Alison Miller

Alison studied at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, graduating in 2013 with first class honours and the John McInulty prize for orchestral playing. She now enjoys a busy freelance schedule in Scotland and abroad.


Alison plays regularly with the Orchestra of Scottish Opera, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Scottish Concert Orchestra, Scottish Ballet Orchestra and the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. She was also the co-concertmaster of the Mediterranean Opera Studio Festival orchestra in Sicily from 2016 - 2023, where she enjoyed working alongside music staff from the world's most renowned opera houses.


Throughout her degree and beyond, Alison has studied with teachers including Tony Moffat, Andrea Gajic, Igor Ozim and Salvo Greco, and has participated in masterclasses with Nicola Benedetti, Leland Chen and Harald Herzl.


In addition to orchestral playing, Alison enjoys theatre work and has undertaken various freelance work and recordings for Scottish theatres including the National Theatre of Scotland, Dundee Repertory Theatre, Citizen's Theatre Company and the Royal Lyceum Theatre, Edinburgh.


As a soloist, Alison has performed in Scotland, Italy, Holland and Belgium. She also enjoys chamber music, playing at various music clubs across Scotland.


Over the past ten years, Alison has taught in various education settings, including Sistema Scotland, the University of St Andrews and various schools in Edinburgh, Fife and Glasgow. 


Alison plays on a Lentz violin of 1805.
